GM today debuted the 2024 GMC Hummer EV in the US – an all-electric SUV that debuted during the NCAA Final Four game in a commercial featuring basketball legend LeBron James. Despite the commercial, serial production only starts in 2023. As with the pickup truck , this SUV will launch with a special Edition 1 model. Production of Hummer SUVs is scheduled to begin in early 2023, with the vehicle going on sale for the 2024 model year. the Edition 1 model starts at $105,595. In case one opts for the Extreme Off-Road Pack and the price goes up to $110,595. Despite its rugged looks, the new Hummer EV SUV is purely electric, powered by GM’s Utlium Drive system. Underneath that elevated body is a 20-module battery that promises an estimated range of at least 300 miles (480 km) when the vehicle is not equipped with the available Extreme Off-Road Package. With a handful of electric motors, the Hummer reaches a power of 830 horsepower. Torque measures in at a claimed 11,500 pound-feet, but that number is misleading as it’s actually wheel torque, not drivetrain torque.
Give it a good whiplash and the GMC Hummer EV SUV should be able to sprint from a standstill to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds. A top speed figure has yet to be released, but much more information about this all-electric SUV will be released soon.
