The third generation of the BMW Z4 is sold in Brazil in two versions: S Drive 30i MSport and M40i Steptronic. While the first has a 2.0 engine with 258 hp and 40.6 kgfm of torque, the second boasts a 3.0 engine with 340 hp and 50 kgfm.
Compared to the previous generation, the BMW Z4 has grown by 85 millimeters and now measures 4.32 meters in length. It is also 74mm wider (1.86m) and 13mm taller (1.30m). The bad news is that the wheelbase has decreased by 26 mm to 2.47 meters.
But the automaker guarantees that the change did not compromise driver and passenger comfort and improved the dynamic behavior of the vehicle. The trunk capacity is not the strong point of convertibles and, in the case of the Z4, the compartment only accommodates 281 liters.
The most affordable version, with a 2.0 engine, has direct fuel injection, a variable valve control system and valve control with opening time variation. In this way, the BMW Z4 hits a top speed of 250 km/h and completes 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. Consumption averages are 9.8 k/l in the city and 11.5 km/l on the highway.
The eight-speed automatic transmission allows manual shifts on the paddles behind the steering wheel and the Z4’s rear-wheel drive makes the convertible even more nervous.
The embedded technology is a positive point of the Z4 already in its entry version. As standard, it delivers semi-automatic parking assistant, speed limiter, launch control, start-stop system, automatic speed control and auto hold.
Don’t stop there. The equipment package also adds traction and stability controls, internal cross traffic, lane change and frontal collision alerts and automatic emergency braking.
