LIMITED, THE NEW VERSION OF RAM 1500

Ram, a Stellantis brand since January 2021, yesterday launched the Limited version of the large Ram 1500 pickup. The focus, says the manufacturer, is urban use, and therefore the Limited is endowed with more luxury and technology.

It is the only pickup in Brazil with active pneumatic suspension, 22-inch wheels and rear seats with backrest inclination adjustment of up to 8º, putting an end to a critical point of double-cab pickups.

The launch of the Ram 1500 Limited coincides with the introduction of new features on the 2023 Ram, such as the fully digital 12-inch instrument cluster and the Ram Connect connectivity platform.

The new version is divided into two, the Limited and the Limited Night Editon. The first, with a suggested public price of R$ 529,990, features chrome details throughout the exterior, including the bumper, tow hook, exterior mirror housing, window frame, emblems and exhaust tip.

The interior is finished in black, with the steering wheel, instrument panel, center console and door panels finished in wood and leather, with aluminum inserts. There are five colors available: Patriot blue, Ivory white (new on the model), Crystal granite, Diamond black, and Delmonico red.

On the Ram 1500 Night Edition as well as other pickup trucks in the Ram family, the chrome finish is swapped for black paint or comes in body color. In this configuration, headlights and taillights have a black mask, the hood has a sporty design, the rear-view mirror housings are in glossy black, the wheels are black, the tow hook is black, the grille is in glossy black, in addition to the bumpers in black. bodywork, black window frames, black badges and black exhaust tips. The interior is identical to the chrome pickup truck. The available colors of the Night Edition are: Patriot Blue, Crystal White, Crystal Granite and Diamond Black.

traction system

The traction system has the 4×4 Auto mode, which is not on the Rebel. In this way, it is possible for the force to be distributed to the four wheels automatically whenever necessary, increasing driving safety, even on asphalt. In addition, there are 4×4 High and 4×4 Low options (reduced, exclusively for off-road use). Another difference between the Ram 1500 Limited and the Rebel is the 18.5% longer differential (3.21:1 versus 3.94:1), which allows running at lower revs, at any speed. which contributes to lower fuel consumption and provide greater listening comfort, especially on the road.

There is also the deactivation of 4 of the 8 cylinders for fuel economy, the variable phase valve timing, the active radiator grille, and the active front aerodynamic deflector, it lowers from 50 km/h.

Also contributing to fuel economy is the reduction of aerodynamic drag with the Aero mode of the air suspension. Unique in the segment, it is on two axles and has automatic control, via a command on the panel or the key that allows you to use five driving modes, delivering surprising driving comfort and a lot of capacity:

• Normal – standard height with 211 mm of ground clearance;
• Aero – the suspension automatically lowers 15 mm above 100 km/h;
• Off-road 1 – ground clearance increases to 241 mm;
• Off-road 2 – ground clearance reaches no less than 262 mm;
• Park – helps to get in or out of the cabin and facilitates the placement or removal of cargo in the bucket, with a ground clearance of 159 mm.

There are more features. The suspension is self-leveling. Whenever the system detects a load or trailer, the air pressure in the suspension bags self-adjusts to normal height. In Off-road 2 mode, the entry, exit and ramp angles are greatly increased — 23.5°, 23° and 20.5°, respectively.

With the exception of the Ram 1500 Rebel, the towing capacity of 3,647 kg ( pictured above ) is the largest among the V-8 pickup trucks on the market. Robustness is the chassis is achieved with 98% of the steel used being of high resistance. The hood and bucket lid are made of aluminum to reduce weight. The 1500 Limited also features Pirelli All Season 285/45R22X tires on exclusive 22-inch aluminum alloy wheels. To protect the truck’s underside during off-road forays, it’s fitted with protection for the front suspension, steering system, fuel tank and transfer case.

An integral part of the 1500 Rebel family, the 1500 Limited is produced alongside its “sister” in Sterling Heights, Michigan and also has the legendary 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine producing 400 hp under the hood. and 56.7 m·kgf Powerful, modern and reliable, the “power plant” is coupled to the TorqueFlite eight-speed epicyclic automatic transmission, whose easy-to-use rotary selector control on the dashboard frees up space on the center console.

Technology and connectivity

New to the Ram family that arrives with the 1500 Limited is the 12-inch fully digital instrument cluster that also happens to be the 1500 Rebel, 2500 and 3500 from now on. In addition to analogue and digital views, the screen has more than 20 menus and the driver can save the favorite setting in the user profile. Also customizable is the data projector on the windshield of crucial information such as speed, navigation coordinates, road speed limit, among others. This item is one more of the exclusive features of the Ram 1500, as well as the internal digital rearview mirror, which offers the best possible rear view in any situation, even if the cabin and bucket are full.

Another highlight is the 12” Uconnect multimedia center with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay and native navigation, from which you can command the premium Harman Kardon sound with 19 speakers and 900 watts of power. The system includes the exclusive Active External Noise Cancellation feature. To close the technological package of the 1500 Limited, there is a 360° view with four cameras, induction cell phone battery charging, electromechanical parking brake, twilight and rain sensors. and keyless interior access with push-button and remote start.

The steering wheel has height and distance adjustment and also heating. It contains the steering assistance controls, audio, instrument panel and the highest gear limiter, a very useful resource for mountain descents or towing.

The Ram 1500 Limited also marks the debut of Ram Connect, a platform that connects the driver to the truck in a variety of ways. Both through the smartphone application from which the Health Report can be consulted remotely, which shows the time for the next service, tire pressure and fuel level, among other information, and through a series of onboard resources.

It is a broad set of connectivity, real-time security with 24-hour monitoring, emergency and intelligent navigation (with the traffic situation at the moment, for example) that will also equip the model years 2023 of the Ram 1500 Rebel, 2500 and 3500. Anyone who purchases one of these pickups in addition to the 1500 Limited itself, with the Ram Connect platform will have free access to all premium services for 12 months. Among them is a built-in Wi-Fi connection with 60 GB of data allowance, making the vehicle a mobile hotspot. To complete, the system brings new features: online service scheduling, travel reports, status of remote operations, connection to personal account and removal of personal data from Uconnect.

Luxury, the watchword

The Ram 1500 Limited is the only pickup that has a rear seat with reclining backrests of up to 8°. The armrest is wide, almost as wide as the front and includes a storage compartment and two cup holders. The flat rear floor does not detract from the middle passenger’s space. The floor is protected with rubber and fabric mats and raised edges.

The highest level of luxury and sophistication is seen in every detail. As in the panoramic sunroof with almost 1 m² of area, it leaves the cabin illuminated with natural light, it is all covered in leather and wood with aluminum appliqués. The lining of the columns and ceiling are dark and access to the interior is facilitated by automatic electric steps. The front and rear seats have heating and ventilation. The front ones have 12-way electric adjustments and two memories. To complete the comfort and ergonomics, the pedal has electric distance adjustment.

On the center console there are two 115 V sockets. There are nine USB ports (4 type C, fast charging), counting the front and rear outputs. In addition to the two front cup holders, two rear cup holders and the air conditioning vents for the second row. The total internal storage space is an incredible 151 liters, highlighting the exclusive drawers in the rear floor and the front console object holder, capable of accommodating a 15-inch notebook.

All attention with the bucket

The bucket is the best and most versatile in the segment. Starting with the exclusive and renowned multifunctional lid that can be opened in two ways: by lowering it entirely or opening it laterally, as it has two hinges. With a touch of the key, you can open the lid, which has a cushioning. Another unique feature of the Ram is the fully sealed and zipped Rambox compartments. Located on the sides of the bucket, they have 107 liters each, in addition to internal lighting and a 115 V socket – on the left side. In all, there are 1,414 liters of capacity when we add these spaces to the 1,200 liters of the bucket, which is protected by a special coating. The Ram 1500 Limited also includes a unique retractable access step, bucket divider and LED interior lighting. All duly protected by the marine canopy.
