Hyundai Veloster: Model will end in July

Hyundai announced that it will cut the Veloster, the exclusive three – door model that has been on sale for the past 11 years and two generations, in July 2022. The automaker confirmed that all standard variants of the Veloster would be scrapped, ceasing production of the car- Boss Veloster N.

Hyundai reports that sales of the Veloster N have dropped since Hyundai introduced the Elantra N (also classified as the Avante in South Korea). Hyundai reportedly sold just 99 Veloster N models in South Korea between January and April, compared with 1,624 Avante N models in the same period.

The Korea Post added that the Veloster N is built in the same Ulsan 1 factory as the more popular Kona, and that cutting the car will launch a production line that can be used for the next generation Kona currently under development.

Veloster isn’t the only model getting the cut. Earlier this month, it was revealed that production of the original Hyundai I Oniq would be ending, which came as no surprise as the automaker has focused on the more advanced Ioniq 5 and other models bearing the Ioniq badge, including the IONIQ 6 sedan and IONIQ 7 three-row SUV.

Veloster N
The Veloster N was created by former head of BMW’s M division, Albert Biermann, who used all his experience at BMW to give the little Hyundai everything it deserved.

Starting with the engine, a new 2.0 turbo direct injection was distributed in the i30 N a few months ago, but in the Veloster the engine was recalibrated to produce 280 hp and 36 kgfm of torque.

Combined with a six-speed manual transmission, rev and downshift synchronizers, adaptive dampers that smooth out body roll, an electronic limited-slip differential and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on optional 18-inch or 19-inch Pirelli wheels .

The suspension was also overhauled by Hyundai. The Veloster N even has a number of visual changes that help differentiate the Veloster N from the quieter version. Features an exclusive N-Division Performance Blue color, new side skirts, larger tailpipes, new rear diffuser, larger rear spoiler.

At the front, new air intakes to cool the new brake system, and inside, the sports seats feature visible stitching and N-zone badge, just like the rest of the cabin. A strange fact is that the “N” comes from two different places.
