BMW presents the variants of the new X5 dedicated to the Chinese market at the Chengdu Motor Show. The German SUV is offered in the xDrive30Li and xDrive40Li versions and differs from its cousins offered in other countries for some exclusive elements, starting with the more generous dimensions.
Long wheelbase and full options. In keeping with BMW tradition, the abbreviation Li indicates the long wheelbase, which is not available for the other X5s marketed in the rest of the world. The Chinese X5s, produced locally, therefore have a wheelbase lengthened by 130 mm, with the increase totally to the advantage of the roominess of the second row and for this reason the doors have also been lengthened. The front and rear design is similar to that already unveiled in Europe, but the Chinese variants offer as standard the illuminated Iconic Glow grille with a chrome finish and the M Sport aerodynamics package. Furthermore, the Individual Frozen matt-effect exterior colors are making their debut for the local market, while the interiors offer Sensafin vegan leather finishes and specific Comfort seats for all variants. The dashboard is dominated by the Curved Display with 8.5 operating system and 12.3 and 14″ screens,
Mild hybrid petrol only. The two 48V mild hybrid petrol engines both offer all-wheel drive and the Steptronic Sport eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. The xDrive 30 Li offers the 2.0 turbo four-cylinder 258 HP and 400 Nm, not available in Europe, while the xDrive 40 Li offers the 3.0 turbo six-cylinder 380 HP and 520 Nm also offered in the Italian price lists. No other engines have been announced for the moment, despite the presence of Phev variants available for other markets.
