The RS 5 is equipped with a 2.9 V6 Biturbo engine, which received a new calibration and develops 450 horsepower between 5,700 rpm and 6,700 rpm, and 600 Nm of torque from 1,900 rpm to 5,000 rpm. It works in conjunction with the eight-speed Tiptronic transmission. As a result, the new sports cars accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds (0.1s improvement over the series standard) and the top speed has increased to 290 km/h. The RS Pro sports suspension allows you to manually lower the height of the vehicle by up to 10 mm, which leaves the factory 10 mm lower compared to the previous model, totaling a total reduction of up to 20 mm in height. The “Coilover” suspension also features three-way adjustable dampers and stiffer stabilizers, which provide an ideal balance between comfort and performance, increasing the connection with the driver and helping to reduce lap times.
A new set of data in the control unit with changed parameters shifts the emphasis to the rear. In addition, updated software in the transmission control unit allows for reduced gearshift times and a noticeable increase between the various driving modes. The dynamic steering ratio is fixed at a ratio of 1:13.1. Developed especially for the Competition Plus versions, Audi Sport GmbH presents the new RS plus sports exhaust system with matte black tailpipes that result in a more intense sound pattern, not only due to the exhaust system itself, but mainly due to the reduced insulation between the engine compartment and the interior, thus promoting an exciting sound experience and a high-performance environment. This modification also decreases the weight of the car by around eight kilograms.
Externally, the model has a sporty look with sinuous lines and pronounced creases on the side sills and rear diffusers, which encompass the two large exhaust pipes. At the front, the Singleframe grille has a glossy black frame and optics with darkened Matrix LED headlights and Audi Laser light technology. The air vents above the grille are reminiscent of the classic Audi Sport quattro from 1984. The four rings on the bonnet and boot lid, as well as the model lettering, underline the sporty character with their high-gloss black finish. The new Audi RS 5 Sportback 2.9 TFSi Competition Plus quattro and RS 5 Sportback 2.9 TFSi Competition Plus Track quattro use 20-inch light-alloy wheels, with five “Y”-shaped spokes and finished entirely in glossy black or with a glossy polished finish and glossy black details.
The new RS 5 family is available in two trim versions: Audi RS 5 Sportback 2.9 TFSi Competition Plus quattro and RS 5 Sportback 2.9 TFSi Competition Plus Track quattro, both at the same price of BRL 849,990.00. They are equipped with the Audi Beam lighting system, which projects the Audi Sport symbol onto the floor when you open the front doors. In addition, they offer a steering wheel and gearbox covered in Alcantara with red stitching. Nappa leather with contrast stitching appears on the door armrests and center console.
The seat belts for the front and rear outer seats are made in black with a red border. Finally, the mats are offered in black with contrasting red stitching and the RS logo on the front mats.
One of the differences between versions is the front seats. In the RS Competition Plus version, the seats are upholstered in a combination of leather and Dinâmica microfiber with a honeycomb pattern and RS embroidery. The glossy piano black side trim on the front seats completes the sporty atmosphere in the cabin. The RS Competition Plus Track version is equipped with RS shell seats, supplied by the renowned manufacturer Sabelt, with manual adjustments and a combination of leather and dynamic microfiber in a honeycomb pattern. It is worth noting that the Dinamica material is made from 45% recycled PET fibers; around 215 grams of PET fibers are processed per seat.
Also new is the Sebring Black exterior color with crystal effect, which joins the range of colors currently available – Navarra Blue, Turbo Blue, Glacier White, Daytona Grey, Nardo Grey, Mito Black, District Green, Sodoma Green and Tango Red. The equipment available as options for both versions is the external mirror cover in glossy black or brushed steel (free of charge).
Audi Exclusive Program
