BMW X5 2023 – maintenance and overhaul
BMW continues to use its well-known CBS (Condition Based Service) system, which constantly monitors the car’s parameters, including the condition of components, oil and fluid levels, among others.
With this, the driver is warned on the vehicle’s dashboard about the need to carry out the next inspection, always four weeks or 2,000 kilometers in advance.
On the one hand, BMW claims that this system is transparent and generates savings, as it only informs the driver when a service is really needed. On the other hand, many owners complain that alerts appear more frequently than normal, which ends up generating a high cost.
In any case, the German brand’s website does not inform the specific costs for revisions of the X5 or any other model, and it is necessary to contact a dealership to receive this information.
The first generation of the BMW X5 was presented in the year 1999 and remained in line until 2006.
One of the reasons for the success of the SUV was the use of Land Rover technologies by BMW – recently acquired by the German brand at that time.
Among the features, the X5 took advantage of the hill descent control system used by the Range Rover HSE.
In addition, the BMW X5 borrowed parts from the tailgate of Range Rover cars. Several parts and electronic components were inherited from other BMW cars, such as the 5 Series, all in an attempt to reduce production costs.
The 1999 BMW X5 was built from the same chassis as the 5 Series sedan. However, to be used in the premium SUV, the structure received a series of changes, including to adopt the four-wheel drive system and the independent suspension also in the four wheels.
